A
les envistes del Ter (A View of the Ter)
Author: Ricard Torrents
Publisher: Eumo Editorial
Collection: L’entorn
Pages: 199
Format: 12 x 18 cm
A View of the Ter offers an innovative, dramatic and stimulating approach
to two of the greatest, contemporary Catalan poets: Jacint Verdaguer and Miquel
Martí i Pol, the authors of, respectively,
L’Atlàntida and
La
Fàbrica who were born in the neighbouring towns of Folgueroles and
Roda de Ter. Taking the form of a guided tour, we discover the
written spaces within
sight of the river Ter between the Osona plain and the Guilleries mountains,
the agricultural and industrial worlds, the romanticism of the 19th century and
the realism of the 20th.
In A View of the Ter, these two poets, so close
and yet so far from each other, are, through their texts and their landscapes,
their existential standpoints and their, equally close and distant, antagonistic
and harmonious literary styles, placed within a daring dialogue.
This literary tour offers a different reading experience: placing the reader
at the centre of a thrilling crossfire between two ways of writing/reading
written
spaces of great beauty.

town, and which also connects the two poets who wrote
L’Atlàntida and
La
Fàbrica, representative of two centuries: the romanticism of the

Verdaguer, poet of Catalonia,
presents the life journey of the Folgueroles poet, showcasing the key places
and the author’s books and writings.
Miquel Martí i Pol, the
voice of the people, describes the life and works of the author from Roda
de Ter, through interviews and images of the town’s most referential locations.
